During my Placement Year I undertook a Community Development Internship with The Phoenix Projects in Ecuador. This was a great way to combine by degree studies of International Relations and Spanish along with my passion for sustainable community development. I worked on a range of projects including planning and buying a herd of cows for a new family business to a 4 day fundraising climb that saw me standing 5,897m above sea level on a glacier capped volcano. It was an invaluable and rewarding experience where I could see my hard work really making a difference to the lives of the indigenous communities of Ecuador.
