We aim to gain insights into clinician experiences and beliefs to enable us to develop in depth understandings on the influence of routine monitoring requirements on clozapine selection by clinicians. The study also aims to explore clinician awareness and any experiences of strategies to limit the impact of any barriers to clozapine initiation.

To gather rich data and develop new understandings a qualitative study is proposed. Semi-structured interviews of clinicians with experience in clozapine therapy will be conducted. On-line interviews will be used for improved convenience and access, the virtual interview will be conducted via an Instant Messaging (IM) Service in real time.

Our goal is to improve understandings regarding clozapine prescribing. We hope that our findings will benefit other clinicians and their patients and also inform other research. For individual participant’s CPD purposes we are able to offer a certificate of participation in the project.

The findings will be incorporated into an MSc dissertation and we will look to publish the results and/or present at a conference.
