It is not enough to read the history books to really know Portugal in general or Lisbon in particular. Instead, you need to go further and listen to the stories told by the people, discover the secrets of its cultural heritage, reveal the mystery of its traditions, enjoy the green of its hills, the magic of its light and understand that being Portuguese means attaching a deep importance and meaning to every single thing and every single expression, something no other nation can match.

About

Looking back over the past 40 years, EBS has long made a name for itself as one of the leading business schools in Germany. Today, they are proud to present the new EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht

The transformation from EBS Business School into EBS Universität is the most important milestone since the founding of EBS. Their vision becomes reality: To establish EBS as one of the most modern and innovative universities in its field and as the first German business university to be ranked among the leading universities worldwide.

Location

EBS Universität is located in the heart of Germany, in a region that blends history with the modern world like no other: The Rheingau is home to an endless number of historical sights and a few kilometres further on begins the 65km-stretch of the Middle Rhine Valley, a Unesco World Heritage Site. In the opposite direction attractions include the lively Rhine-Main area with the cosmopolitan city Frankfurt am Main and its vibrant nightlife. Excursions organized by students can be like travelling back in time to the 12th century, for instance to Kloster Eberbach, or feeling the pulse of modern times among Frankfurt's banking towers.

Campus

A close and informal relationship between students, faculty and other staff members is typical of the atmosphere at EBS Universität. They are a small university providing individual guidance and support – they all know each other. The climate on campus in Oestrich-Winkel with its historical buildings and green spaces and in the modern Atrium-House in Wiesbaden is characterized by open and friendly communication. Campus life is not just about seminars and lectures. Faculty, administrative staff and students are all involved in a wide range of activities outside lectures and teaching.

It is important to them that their students are able to grow and develop their personality. At EBS Universität they demand and foster their commitment and their sense of responsibility. Organized in an independent association with around 1,500 members, their students work together in numerous student initiatives (so-called Ressorts), which engage in a wide range of different projects such as help for the homeless, presentations, sporting events or even the organization of high-calibre conferences. Moreover, through their involvement in various University boards the student representatives play an active role in shaping the development of their University.

About

Established in 1819, the world’s first business school, ESCP Europe was founded by a group of economic scholars and businessmen including the well-known economist Jean-Baptiste Say and the celebrated trader Vital Roux. Jean-Baptiste Say was an advocate of economic liberalism and is often credited with having coined the concept of entrepreneurship as early as 1800. Vital Roux is particularly known for having largely contributed to the elaboration of the Commercial Code in 1807 as well as for his up-front thinking in innovative pedagogy. Many tourists visit Maastricht to go shopping, taste its savoir-vivre atmosphere or to visit one of the 1660 monuments in Maastricht.

Nowadays, the most important industries in Maastricht are the financial and business services industry, trade/hotel and catering industry, and the education/ health care sector. Some large companies situated in or near Maastricht are Vodafone, DHL , Daimler, DSM (global science based company active in health, nutrition and materials) and SABIC (manufacturer of chemicals, fertilizers, plastics and metals).

Campus

The University of Mannheim offers a unique atmosphere. Its campus assembles all disciplines in short distance away of one another.

The core of the campus is Mannheim Palace. With a length of 400 meters it is the largest baroque palace in Germany. In recent years it has been renovated extensively thanks to private donations totalling around Euro 13 million. Modern steel and glass elements now offer a fascinating contrast to the almost 300 year-old walls. For further information on the palace, its history and museum visit the website of the state heritage agency Staatliche Schlösser und Gärten.

All disciplines which are not housed in the palace are within a few minutes walking distance. They either have new buildings, like the Department of Economics and the Institute of Computer Science, or, like the School of Social Sciences, are housed in renovated buildings.

Location

Within easy reach of the continent’s largest markets and with its unique access to continental Europe via the Nieuwe Maas River – the largest commercial port in Europe and the second largest in the world – Rotterdam has been a hub of international trade and commerce for centuries. This heritage of trade has left its legacy – Rotterdam today is a multicultural city that is home to a host of multinational and local enterprises, and with a growing reputation as an international knowledge centre in areas including supply chain management.

Rotterdam has a reputation in the Netherlands and beyond for its progressive outlook on many areas of urban life, from art, music and architecture (for which it is world-famous), to cinema, dance and theatre. Each year, Rotterdam hosts numerous festivals, concerts and sporting events including the ABN AMRO Marathon Rotterdam, the International Film Festival, Port of Rotterdam North Sea Jazz Festival, and the exuberant Rotterdam Unlimited. The nightlife in Rotterdam rivals that of Amsterdam with a hip and creative young scene filling restaurants, bars, cafes and nightclubs.

During the summer, the ‘Beach at the Maas’ is a great place to enjoy the sun with relaxing music and food, and a great view on the river and Rotterdam skyline.

About

Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, was founded in 2008 following the merger of the Solvay Business School and the Economics Department. In 2010 it led to the creation of an independent faculty. It hosts more than 3000 students in its Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes.

The SBS-EM faculty is part of the Universite libre de Bruxelles. Founded in 1834, the ULB is an international University with about 24 000 students.

Location

Triple capital of Europe, Belgium and the Flanders region, host to both NATO and the EU headquarters, European base for a large number of international corporations (more than a 1.000 from the United States only), welcoming home for a population of some 300.000 expats, incredibly cosmopolitan… Yet Brussels remains a very relaxed and laid-back town which manages to keep its human scale.

Ripe with all the facilities and entertainment you would expect from a capital city, from hotels, bars andrestaurants to museums and famous monuments, Brussels is still easy to get around. Outside rush-hour you can cross the city in a mere 20 minutes. The city centre itself is easily walkable. And the green spaces (parks - woods - forest) account for 13.8% of its surface.

Nested in the heart of Belgium, at the cross-road between France, The U.K., The Netherlands and Germany, Brussels is also a great base to travel from. With its main airport implanted in the suburbs, another one just 1 hour drive away and 3 major train stations, the rest of Belgium and Europe is never too far. You can travel to Paris, London, Amsterdam or Berlin in under 2 hours.

Historically anchored in the heart of this great metropolis, The Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management builds upon the city’s geo-strategic strengths to enable its students to become true international professionals with many networking capacities.

Campus

In September 2010, the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management moved into its brand new headquarters. A much anticipated event, many years in the making…

The new home of the SBS-EM is standing tall on one of the most prestigious avenues of Brussels. It will, from now on, act as a daring symbol of the school’s prestige and its ambitions for the future. The brief was simple: high-tech equipment, bold design and open to the outside world. The result? 10.000 m² and 5 storeys of interacting spaces, a state-of-the-art architecture finally giving the school the bite to match its bark.
