Meet your dedicated careers consultant

Careers Consultant: Iwan

Iwan Griffiths is Aston Business School's dedicated MSc Careers Consultant and a tutor on the Professional Development Programme taken by all full-time Aston Business School MSc students. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with nine years’ experience at Aston providing careers advice, developing student career management skills and helping students find relevant work experience and graduate jobs. In the last few years, Iwan has won Aston Business School awards for Service Excellence and for Inspiration and Innovation.

Iwan will work with you to determine your future career path and enable you to take the necessary steps to reach your full potential.

It's ok if you aren't sure where you see your career headed just yet, that's part of Iwan's job to help you discover what’s available, your career interests, work values, skills and preferred ways of working.

Once you have decided which career is right for you, Iwan will help you to make your aspiration a reality. Together you will develop a strategic career plan, develop your CV, LinkedIn profile and cover letter, identify suitable employers and learn best practice for completing applications.

Once those interview offers start rolling in (and they will, trust us) you will benefit from interview and assessment centre preparation workshops to give you the best chance of success.

Throughout your time at Aston, and beyond as an alumnus, you’ll be invited to a variety of networking opportunities to build links with major employers as well as business professionals working in Birmingham.

Last year we welcomed some of the best graduate recruiters to campus including Unilever, EY, PwC, Boots, Jaguar Land Rover, HSBC, Accenture, Deloitte, Amazon and many more.

Iwan's top tips

In my job search, which has led to a full-time offer, Iwan’s advice throughout the year played a very influential role. His sessions helped to familiarise me with the UK job market, and gave me an idea of what to expect as I began the process. Overall, I credit his support and efforts throughout the year as a major reason I am in this position now - so thank you!”
