Aston PG50 Masters Scholarships 2015

Aston has over 50 PG50 Scholarships of £10,000 available to selected UK / EU students enrolling on Aston Postgraduate Taught Full Time courses in 2015.

Aston PG50 Scholarships for 2015 will include: 

  • £10,000 scholarship to fund full time fees and support living expenses
  • Access to relevant student and/or graduate mentoring programmes   
  • Access to professional internships with regional employers

This scholarship is devised to increase access to Masters level study for groups under-represented at postgraduate level. In order to be considered for this particular Scholarship you should meet at least one of the following criteria: 

  • Have a household income of less than £25,000* 
  • A student with a disability or specific learning difference  
  • A female graduate wishing to study Engineering and Technology subjects   
  • A graduate wishing to study strategically important subjects including Engineering and Languages 
  • A care leaver.

Please note that Aston PG50 scholarships are only available to UK/EU students who commenced their undergraduate degree at a UK University on or after 1 September 2012, will be graduating in 2015 and paid the higher fees that were introduced in 2012. This stipulation is a condition of the UK Government (HEFCE) funding.

Applications for Round 5 of the PG50 Scholarships for 2015 entry are still available but limited in number. Scholarships in Round 5 are only available for courses in:

  • School of Languages and Social Sciences
  • School of Engineering and Applied Science
  • Aston Business School 

PG50 Scholarships are no longer available for courses in the School of Life and Health Sciences.

How to apply

Applicants will first be required to apply for a full time postgraduate taught programme at Aston University and then receive an offer.

It may take up to two weeks to receive an offer from Aston University so students considering postgraduate study should apply as soon as possible. 

We will then send offer-holders a link to further details of how to apply for the Aston Postgraduate Scholarship.  

It's not too late: Applications for Round 5 of the PG50 Scholarships for 2015 entry are still available but limited in number. The final deadline is 9th October 2015. Scholarships will be allocated to eligible applicants on a case by case basis and will close before 9th October if all remaining scholarships have been awarded. 

Criteria and evidence

Applicants may be required to supply evidence of their household income if available, and will be required to produce a 400 word statement explaining why they should be considered for the scholarship. 

This scholarship is only open to Home (UK Domiciled) / EU students studying on Full Time, 12 month postgraduate taught programmes who enrolled at University in 2012 and are studying at University under the new post-2012 variable fees regime. This stipulation is a condition of the UK Government (HEFCE) funding. The Aston PG50 Masters Scholarship is funded as part of the HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for England) Postgraduate Support Scheme.

Further information about application procedures, terms and conditions for the PG50 scholarships will be confirmed in March 2015. Applications after the deadline may still be offered a place at Aston and may be eligible for other scholarships and graduate fee discounts.
