Before starting your application, please make sure you have the following:

  • Copies of your university transcripts, for each year of study
  • If you haven’t completed your degree yet, please submit the grades that you have achieved so far. If necessary, certified English translations of all documents should be provided
  • Copies of your English language qualifications (if necessary – please check our English Language Requirements as this may not be required)
  • One or two references (please check your course webpage for specific reference requirements.) If you are a current student or a recent graduate we will usually accept an academic reference, if you are employed we will usually request an employer reference. References should be provided on letter headed paper and signed; alternatively the reference can be provided directly from the referee via their professional email address
  • A personal statement (250 words max)

Your statement should explain your interest in your chosen subject area, highlight non-academic achievements or activities that you wish to be considered, and demonstrate how the course will support your career plans.

2. Apply now

You’ll find an application form on every postgraduate course page. Once your application has been received, you’ll receive a confirmation email followed by an electronic copy of your completed form. Our Admissions team will then assess your application. Our team will aim to make a decision within ten working days, however during busier periods this may take longer.

Please note if you have applied for an MBA course, you will be invited to an interview if you meet the entry requirements.

If you are applying for a CPD course, please visit the relevant course page to check the entry requirements.

3. Offer

If you are successful, you will receive an offer email with instructions on how to accept the offer (if you are not successful, you will also receive an email to confirm this).

4. Accept your offer

If you receive an offer and would like to accept, you will be required to pay a deposit by a given deadline. This deposit reserves your place on the course. Missing this deadline could mean your place on the course is offered to another applicant, so we encourage you to pay the deposit before the deadline in your offer email.

Important: Please make sure that your Aston Student ID is quoted in the payment reference so that we can identify the payment and match it with your application.

5. Send us your documents

You will need to submit your documents using our new application portal. When submitting your documents you will need to:

6. Complete pre-CAS questionnaire (International Students only)

If you are an international student, you must complete the pre-CAS questionnaire. This is required for us to issue a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) to support your visa application. If you need any visa support, please contact our Visa Support team.

7. Apply for visa (International students only) 

If you are an international student, you will need a student visa to study a full-time course in the UK. If you accept our offer of a place to study at Aston University, our team of qualified immigration advisers will be able to advise you on a range of visa and immigration issues, and help you apply for your Student visa. This is a free service. Contact us for help and advice or to arrange an appointment.

8. Accommodation

Apply for your accommodation. Please note that you will need your Aston Student ID number for this, which is provided in the welcome email. Normally, you will not be able to apply for accommodation until the day after you receive your offer, due to the need for systems to synchronise.
