Visiting Scholars Scheme

Funding is available to enable eminent researchers to visit Aston, to be hosted by a member of staff or research group. The fund will normally pay for travel and living expenses and, in exceptional cases, a visit fee.

The visitor’s contribution is not strictly defined but the outcome should be the promotion of excellence in research in the area. For example, the visiting scholar may deliver workshops or seminars to staff or research students, or work with and offer consultancy to a research group; this could lead to the establishment of improved research links, writing of joint papers or submission of research grant applications.

All individuals hosting a visit are expected to write a short report outlining the impact of the visits, specifically any tangible output such as research papers generated, funding bids submitted or expertise that has been developed.

All requests for such funding should be made directly to the Associate Dean for Research in your School.  Associate Deans will make a submission for this funding in the early part of the autumn term for visits to take place up to the end of the academic year.
