Physical Wellbeing

Physical and mental health are linked in many ways and taking care of one can often make the other much easier to handle.  Regular health checks are important to maintain your physical health - but it is just as important if you have a mental illness, because research has shown that you are more likely to suffer from an associated physical health problem.  

Using food, alcohol and drugs is a way that some people try to manage and deal with physical and mental symptoms and to feel happier, calmer or more alive. If you use these as a coping mechanism, you may go on to develop dependencies, which in themselves can become problematic.
