Staff Disability Network

A Disability Network for staff has now been established and  is chaired by Dr Jane Andrews from CLIPP. It is very informal and welcomes new members. It will be publicising its meetings and activities regularly through Aston Aspects. There will be updates here about the Network,  but staff can also contact Jane Andrews by email at j.e.andrews@aston.ac.uk  if they have any specific questions.

Terms of Reference

  1. To provide a safe, supportive and confidential environment in which to discuss   issues relating to disability

  2. To provide a forum to discuss all aspects of living with a disability

  3. To provide networking and support

  4. To share best practice and expertise

  5. To contribute o policy development across the University

  6. To contribute to staff development and awareness raising in relation to equality and diversity

  7. To ensure the group has a credible presence for the disabled community through the membership and participation of disabled people

Mode of Operation

  1. The Network will meet at least 3 times per year but will arrange other meetings and activities as appropriate

  2. The Network will report to the Equality and Diversity Forum

  3. The network will be self-determining and self-managing


The Network will be open to all disabled staff and staff with caring responsibilities for disabled people. Members will:

  1. Take a proactive role in the Network

  2. Contribute, as appropriate, to projects, initiatives or activities agreed by the Network

  3. Respect Confidentiality
