Aston University is committed to pursuing a comprehensive policy of equal opportunities in employment, the provision of education to students and in its dealings with other stakeholders, internal and external customers, as well as members of the public. So far as is reasonably practicable and within the law, no-one shall receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of sex, marital status, sexual orientation, age, family circumstances, disability, colour, race, nationality or ethnic or national origins, religious or political beliefs, or be disadvantaged by conditions or requirements that cannot be shown to be justifiable.
The University recognises its responsibility under the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000 to promote race equality. In relation to procurement, the University will adhere to its responsibilities under the Act to take race equality into account when procuring goods, works or services from external providers. In so doing the University will require all vendors to give basic information of compliance with the Race Relations Amendment Act. Further assessments may be necessary in the case of tenders and where contractors are providing services to students, staff or other members of the University Community or its stakeholders.
