Equality and Diversity

Equality and Diversity applies to all staff and students at the university – it is not just our legal responsibilities but also the duty we have to each other to make Aston a welcoming place to work and study for everyone. This e-learning course covers the legal basis for Equality and the protections we all have, but also the case for why this matters, what Aston does to promote equality and what you can do.

Cyber Security Awareness

This training covers the essentials of cyber security at the University – keeping information and our students and colleagues safe. In this course you will learn how to protect information and the University’s legal responsibilities, how to keep physical data secure and the University’s policies, how to work safely when away from campus and how to keep data safe in the cloud, and how to identify common cyber security threats such as phishing, social engineering and malware. The e-learning also covers content specific for colleagues engaging in research.

Time to complete: approx. 60 minutes

GDPR Training

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaced the existing Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) in May 2018. The new regulation has been created to ensure all EU citizens, feel empowered and in control of their personal data as well as being made aware of how organisations process their personal data. It means that organisations have a greater responsibility for the management of personal data and not only needs to be legally compliant, as was the case under the DPA, but also be able to demonstrate that compliance.

Time to complete: approx. 60 minutes
