Expanding Horizons: Aston's Year of Transforming Lives

Expanding Horizons: Aston's Year of Transforming Lives

2012 is an exciting year for the UK as the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games approach. Being the host country for such a prestigious event provides the University with a fantastic opportunity.

Expanding Horizons: Aston’s Year of Transforming Lives will build on the successes and achievements of Crossing Boundaries: Aston’s Year of Ethnicity & Culture (2011). It will continue to celebrate the University’s diverse campus community and enhance intercultural awareness but will specifically look at how London 2012 can positively influence the campus community at Aston University.

Over the next 12 months the University will be running a central programme of events and initiatives for staff, students and the wider community, all with the Olympics at their core. Events will include Student Volunteer Week, Aston Olympians, language and cultural events. In addition, many other School based events - such as Healthy Lives, Healthy People - will take place throughout 2012. This is the perfect year to encourage our staff and students to try out a new sport or skill but also a way to showcase the University campus and facilities to the wider community and encourage the community and businesses to explore what Aston University has to offer.
