Student competes in Boxing World University Championships

Jeremie will represent Aston University and Holland in the Boxing World University Championships

An Aston student – Jeremie Besson - has travelled to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia to represent Aston University and Holland in the Boxing World University Championships.

Jeremie Besson was awarded a Sport Scholarship last year and is currently studying for an MSc in Engineering at Aston. Jeremie has been the champion of the Netherlands in his age category and the University Champion of the Netherlands. Earlier this year Jeremie was selected as part of the National under 23s team and took the silver medal in the National BUCS Championships.

Jeremie received his selection from the Dutch Boxing authorities to compete in the World University Championships earlier this year and has been training hard over the summer in preparation. He joins over 100 boxers from around the world and is being received and looked after extremely well in Mongolia – in fact Jeremie and the other boxers have became minor celebrities in Mongolia as the tournament and training are being filmed by Mongolian national television!

Aspects wishes Jeremie lots of luck and hopefully the University will soon have its first World University Champion!

If you would like to send Jeremie any messages of support please forward them to Simon Foster (s.j.foster1@aston.ac.uk) and he will pass them on. Jeremie would really appreciate and get a boost from your support!
