Aston has again been shortlisted for the 2011 National Placement & Internship Awards which will take place at Cass Business School in London on Thursday 20 January 2011.

Maureen Tibby, Head of the Careers & Employability Centre coordinated the submission and said, “It was such an achievement for Aston University to win this in 2010 against some very tough competition and to be shortlisted again for the 2011 award is fantastic especially as there have been such a high number of entries for this category. Enormous credit is due to colleagues’ right across the University for their outstanding and innovative work in enhancing students’ employability through work based learning. Choosing the evidence to include in the submission was very difficult as we have so much excellent practice to choose from and to be proud of."

Aston has over 50 years experience in providing students with integrated placement opportunities and was one of the pioneers of this approach to university degrees. Around 70% of Aston’s students take sandwich or language programmes with almost one in five gaining offers of graduate positions by their placement employer.
