Yoga and Holistic programme start this week

Yoga is a fantastic way to improve your body and mind and we have a range of courses to suit different fitness levels. Yoga is a great way to unwind and you will leave feeling calm and distressed. Yoga can have a range of positive effects on the body from sleep to metabolism and energy levels. If you have never done yoga before and want to try it we have beginner courses as well as courses for people experienced at yoga.

Yoga courses run for 10 weeks in term 1 and started this week. However it’s not too late to book onto a course and feel the benefits of an hour of yoga per week. This term you can choose from:

  • Yogalates

  • Barre Central (New this year)

  • Hatha Yoga

  • Pilates

  • Ashtanga Yoga

  • Dynamic Yoga

You can find a description of each class on the Sport Aston Website as well as a timetable of the classes. There are evening classes and lunch time classes to fit around your work. Each one has a different style and works the body and mind in different ways. Yoga works the whole body and you will leave the class feeling relaxed and refreshed after a day at work.

You can still join a course even if you have missed the first class and you will only pay for 9 weeks instead of the full 10 weeks. If you want to book a yoga course have a look at the yoga timetable online, decide which one you would like to do then come along to Woodcock reception and book your place. You will need to wear some flexible clothing that you feel comfortable. You can go bare foot if you want but if you would prefer to wear footwear a flat flexible trainer or plimsoll would be the best.

The Yoga courses will be held upstairs at Gem Sports Centre. If you have any questions about yoga you can email sportsenquiries@aston.ac.uk or call ext 4623.
