Wedding wonderland or mad as a hatter?

Tune in to see James and Sam’s wedding on episode one of Wedding House on Tuesday 5 October at 8pm on Channel 4.

What springs to mind when you imagine a wedding? A flowing white bridal gown? Men in top hats and tails? Months of hectic planning? How about an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding? Well that’s exactly what one of Aston’s LHS academics had when he took part in Channel 4’s brand new television programme Wedding House.

Wedding House sees a team of experts take over Sundridge Park Manor in Kent to host wedding ceremonies for 32 couples. There’s just one catch: once the bride and groom tell the team what their dream wedding would entail, they don’t get to see a single thing until they arrive at the Manor on their wedding day!

Dr James Brown had been together with his partner Sam for two years when they applied to take part in the show. James tells me that whilst growing up, Sam was fascinated by Lewis Carroll's book, 'Alice in Wonderland'. “We had literally no idea what to expect and only saw the room, our outfits etc when we turned up on the day. All of our guests dressed up as characters from the book and the whole day was insanely good fun. This was easily the best day of our lives!”
