The Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre is now open!

Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre Gym

The Woodcock gym is now open and ready to use. The whole centre is bright and more modern facility while keeping its unique historical aspects that make it a pleasure to use.

The new gym is over a third bigger than the previous Woodcock gym. It has brand new Life Fitness gym equipment with touch screens. There is a choice of cardiovascular, fixed resistance machines or free weights but more choice of each is available. You can plug your headphones or iPod into the cardio equipment and listen to music or watch TV to help you keep going. The free weights area is bigger with more equipment available. The gym is a new stat of the art facility with more choice of machines for a great gym experience. If you haven’t seen it yet feel free to come and have a look around.

There will be a smaller gym will be available for women only sessions on:

  • Monday - Friday: 7:00-9:00, 12:00-14:00 and 17:00-22:00

  • Saturday and Sunday: 12:00-14:00

As part of Sport Aston healthy campus initiative staff memberships have been reduced significantly this year. You can still pay monthly or weekly through your salary. A gold membership which includes the use of the gym, pool, sauna and all fitness classes is £20 per month or £4.61 per week.

A great new addition to Woodcock is the sauna and steam rooms which I am sure many of you will appreciate. You can get memberships that include the use of the sauna and steam rooms and they are due to open next week so you can relax after your workout.

The fitness studios are also due to reopen next week ready for our extensive fitness class timetable that is available this year. There are new classes such as zumba, stretch and tone, box fit and circuits as well as the classes from last year. The studios will also be used for the yoga courses which now include Barre Central and can be booked onto now.

You can find a full timetable of the fitness and yoga classes on the Sport Aston website and you can book yoga by calling ext 4626.
