The new University Nursery was officially opened on Monday (31 January) with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by University staff and children from the Nursery.
The OFSTED approved facilities will enhance the already outstanding service offered to children by the University. Now conveniently located in Venture Way on the Birmingham Science Park Aston, the new custom built Nursery has easy drop off/collection points and is just minutes from the university campus. Children can be booked into the nursery on a daily or weekly basis and fresh, healthy food is delivered daily helping the children to grow and develop. There are places for 70 children aged from five months to five years and the Nursery will be open from 7:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday. It will also cater for children aged 4 ½ - 11 years old during school holidays.
The Nursery is OFSTED registered which means that the children are taught using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, giving them a head start into compulsory education.
Adèle MacKinlay, Director of Staff and Student Services, said: "The Nursery really does offer an unparalleled level of care to children and we have one of the most experienced and highly qualified nursery teams in the area. We have already had a lot of interest in the new Nursery from staff, students and people in the local community. The Nursery is a really valuable community resource as well as a resource for Aston staff and students. We are delighted to be able to introduce children to an institution like Aston University at an early age."
