Swim the distance of the English Channel with Sport Aston

Take part in the Aspire Channel Swim challenge

Woodcock Sports Centre will be re-opening in mid-September and there is a lot for you to be excited about including:

  • A spacious, modern, air conditioned gym with all new state of the art Life Fitness equipment

  • A new 2 storey dance and martial arts studio with brand new Aerobics and Yoga courses and programmes

  • New shower and changing facilities

  • A luxurious Sauna and Steam Room.

What we think will really make a big splash is the return of our historic and beautiful swimming pool! What better way to celebrate this refurbishment than to sign up to the Aspire Channel Swim challenge. Starting in late September you will have 12 weeks to swim the 22 miles of the English Channel - that's 1550 lengths of Aston's 25 yard pool.

This swim is not only a great way to motivate yourself to exercise but is also in aid of an important charity. Aspire is a charity that works with people with spinal cord injury to create opportunity, choice and independence. Aspire ensures that everyone with a spinal cord injury has the opportunity to live an independent and fulfilled life.

It really is quite a personal achievement and can make a huge difference to the lives of those sufferers of spinal cord injury. Plus you get even more of an excuse to swim in Aston's beautiful pool - you even get a free swimming cap when you register!
