Three friends and I will be completing the '3 Peaks Challenge' on 8, 9 and 10 May. This will involve climbing Ben Nevis, Mount Snowdon and Scafell Pike. We are completing the challenge in aid of our friend David Robinson. Dave needs to raise £100,000 for specialist treatment for a brain tumour in America.
David is a friend I have known since way back when we were at College studying our A-levels. He is in a really bad way, suffering from 4 tumours in total at the moment. His doctors in the UK have said that there is nothing more they can do for him apart from to prolong his life and make him as comfortable as possible.
David has been accepted for a clinical trial at the Duke hospital in Durham, North Carolina as long as his symptoms remain stable following current chemotherapy treatment. The treatment is a biological gene treatment for adults suffering from recurrent Medulloblastoma (the brain tumour David has) where other treatment has failed. This cause means an awful lot to me and if there is a chance of saving Dave’s life then I have to everything I can to help him raise the money.
Dave is a lovely man with many friends and is expecting his first child in May. You can find out more about Dave and his condition at http://www.davidleerobinson.co.uk/.
If you would like to sponsor me for the '3 peaks challenge' you can sponsor me the traditional way by filling in a sponsorship form at Woodcock Sports Centre (or I can email it out to your department) or online at http://www.davidleerobinson.co.uk/event/threepeaks.htm. No sponsorship amount is too small. If you do donate online would you also be able to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know as we would like to keep a total of how much we have managed to raise through our challenge.
Many thanks to you all
