Darren runs the London marathon

Darren Hale London marathon

On Sunday 26th April Aston's Senior Leisure Assistant, Darren Hale, woke to find bright sunshine piercing through the windows of his London hotel room - the day had finally arrived - he was about to run the London marathon!

Darren said: 'I made way to the start line along with 37,000 other runners, who I am sure were all on the same train as me!  The temperature soared throughout the day making it very tough running conditions, however I managed to run the whole distance and achieved a time of 3 hours and 44 minutes.'

His chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation and he was running for in memory of his dad who sadly passed away from a heart attack after undergoing heart surgery. So far around £500 has been raised. He would like to thank family, friends, colleagues and customers of Woodcock Sports Centre who have shown their support by sponsoring him.

If you would like to sponsor him and support the British Heart Foundation you can do so through his web page.
