Aspire Channel Swim 2009

Sport Aston is launching the Aspire Channel Swim 2009. This national event enables you to swim the distance of the English Channel in the comfort of Woodcock Swimming Pool. Swim as an individual, team, family, department, society or club and raise money for people who have incurred a spinal cord injury.

22 miles works out to be 1550 lengths of our 25 yard pool. There are  two options:

1. Swim the distance over a 6 week period by swimming 258 lengths per week – about 65 lengths per day,  4 days a week.

2. Swim the distance over 12 weeks. This works out to be just 129 lengths per week.

This swim is not only a great way to motivate yourself to exercise but is also in aid of an important charity. Every day another four people are told they may never walk again. There is no period of transition, no preventative medicine, no warning and no time to prepare – your life is turned upside down. Every penny you can raise through the Aspire Channel Swim will help Aspire to continue their important work.

So start the swim today. Just pop over to Woodcock Sports Centre and we can hand you a leaflet with the registration form attached. It really is quite a personal achievement and can make a huge difference to the lives of those sufferers of spinal cord injury. You even get a free swimming cap when you register!
