Winners of campus art competition announced

Campus art competition

Budding artists and photographers from the University were able to demonstrate their talents in the annual Art Competition. Students, staff and graduates were asked to submit entries to the competition which was held in association with the Aston Graduates Association (AGA). The competition, now in its fourth year, was split into two categories: photography and painting/drawing. After much debate the three judges came to their decision.

The first prize of £75 for the painting/drawing category was awarded to current student Aimee Alderson for her submission ‘Catch of the Day’. A second prize of £50 was given to current student Asma Jamil for ‘Rainforest Aroma’.

The photography category had 35 submissions and the first prize of £75 was awarded to student Patricia Melendez Justo for ‘Dawn in Venezuela’. A second prize of £50 was awarded to staff member Marc Peters for ‘Misty Locks’.

There was also a public vote of over 200 staff and students. Current student Eunja Shin won the painting category for ‘The Ray of Hope’ and Postgradaute Programmes Co-ordinator Virginia Soriano-Chico (LSS) won the photography category with ‘Vienna’. Both received prizes of University memorabilia.

The prizes were awarded at the Annual General Meeting of Convocation on Friday 13th March.
