Live web chat with prospective international students

The International Office ran a successful live web chat with prospective students

On 8 February 2012 the International Office ran a successful live chat session for prospective international students.

The live chat session ran for two hours and was busy throughout. In total there were 219 potential international students who participated in the live chat, with 199 comments submitted during the session, and an additional 28 questions submitted in advance.  The event was promoted on the new Aston University International Facebook page, through Twitter and on the main Aston University website.  The International Office also emailed all current offer holders and applicants with an invite to the live chat, and flyers were distributed at fairs in both India and Africa by International Officers currently overseas.

Katy Friend, International Officer at Aston, said “After receiving such fantastic interest in this live web chat, we intend to hold many more of these events. We will also be holding subject specific live chats, opportunities to talk to our international ambassadors, and those dedicated to visa advice.”

The International Office will be contacting Schools and departments in due course to put arrangements in place and establish a schedule.

Much positive feedback has already been received from participants with comments such as: ‘Thank you for all the answers. This live chat helped me a lot’ and ‘I would like to end my comment with a VERY big recommendation for Aston, although I haven't been there yet.  So people do not hesitate, and make Aston your first choice!’

It is possible to review the live chat and see all questions submitted to the International office on the live chat section of the International website
