International Office's first ever Overseas Agent Conference

In April, the International Office is running its first ever Overseas Agent Conference.  Forty-two separate agencies will be sending delegates to the conference which runs over two days, April 16th & 17th 2012.  Agents attending will come from Europe, Africa, The Middle East, The Indian Sub-Continent and East and South-East Asia.  A full and varied conference programme has been arranged including campus tours, school exhibitions and information sessions as well as a city tour on an open-top sightseeing bus and a visit to Aston Villa football club!  All the delegates will be staying on campus and will have opportunities to meet a wide range of staff and current students during their stay.

The event Co-ordinator is David Tobin, Senior International Officer.  “The purpose of the event is to bring our global agent network onto campus to network with various members of school staff and to see for themselves our renovated campus facilities.  It will help them better appreciate our city-centre location and our campus facilities so that they are better able to advise applicants and so, hopefully boost our international student numbers.  It is also hoped that school staff will gain a better understanding of the work that our agents do for us in representing us globally and that important relationships will be established and strengthened.”

Two of the key events in the conference schedule are an Agent Fair on Monday 16th April from 1 – 2 pm in the Aston Student Guild Hall and the University Fair the next day at 1.15 pm in the same venue.  The Agent Fair offers staff across the University a chance to come and meet our agents face-to-face.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend so please do come along and meet our agents.  The University Fair will give school and administrative staff a forum in which to promote their programmes or services to our agents.  Display space is being co-ordinated through nominated senior members of staff within the school or contact The International Office for further information.
