Can you host an International student over Christmas?

Many students can’t go home at Christmas and can find themselves in a difficult place without friends or support structures around. Some come from cultures that celebrate Christmas in different ways, for some Christmas is not celebrated at all. Many international students would love to know and experience how Christmas is celebrated in Britain.

Could you find a small space to offer hospitality and welcome to those who are far from home or lonely this Christmas?

Could you host a student for a day sometime in the Christmas/New year period, giving them a taste of how you mark this important season?

At the Martin Luther King Centre we are seeking volunteers who might be able offer students hospitality at what can be a difficult time.

If you think you might be able to make a space for one or two students to visit you, share a meal and activity then get in touch. If you want to know more contact Rev James Pritchard by email j.pritchard@aston.ac.uk or call the Chaplaincy Office on ext 4276.

Volunteers over Christmas

The Students' Guild, the International Student Unit and the MLK Centre have teamed up to provide a calendar of social events in the Christmas New Year period from Summer Beach parties to coach trips and drop ins.

Volunteers are need to help them provide this vitally important service. Get to know students better and have fun yourself!

If you want to know more get in touch with Rev Chris Dowd by email c.dowd@aston.ac.uk or call the Chaplaincy Office on ext 4276.
