Most of you will already be aware that in May this year we are welcoming a new Chancellor, Sir John Sunderland. The Chancellor is the honorary and ceremonial head of the University and as such presides at major public occasions such as degree ceremonies. He is an advocate for the University and advances Aston’s interests in all of his spheres of influence.
Sir John will be installed as Chancellor of the University in a ceremony on Wednesday 4 May. The Installation Ceremony is a very special occasion – this will be only the fourth in the entire history of the University.
All members of Aston staff are welcome to attend the Ceremony which will take place at 5:30pm in the Great Hall on 4 May. The Ceremony will last for under an hour and will be followed immediately by a special drinks reception for all in the Upper Foyer. Friends and family are welcome to attend as well and you can book as many places as you like. Please email Claire Hopkins to book seats.
In addition, all members of academic staff are eligible to join the procession and stage party If you are interested in taking part in the academic procession please let Claire know.
It would be great to see lots of staff from across the University at this very special event.
