City Car Club is back on campus

City Car Club

City Car Club is back on campus, offering a low carbon alternative for local travel. Potter Street is home to a Toyota IQ (99 grams of CO2 per km making it both car tax and congestion charge exempt) which can be hired by the hour by Aston staff for local business trips.

As a bonus offer to celebrate the re-launch of City Car Club here at Aston there are 50 free memberships available for staff business use and the first hours driving is free too! It’s a cheaper and more efficient option than using taxis or conventional car hire for short journeys.

With this vehicle now available for hire by the hour on a daily basis, we hope to encourage more of our staff to leave their own cars at home and travel to and from work using public transport. Statistics from Car Plus, the independent charity promoting responsible car use, show that every City Car Club car takes 24 private vehicles off the road, making your commute to work quicker, greener and easier. If you’re keen to switch to public transport, check out the information on our web pages and why not consider taking up the payroll scheme for a discounted yearly travel pass.

You can join City Car club by using this link or by emailing Victoria Johnsen with your name, department, email address and contact phone numbers. City Car Club will then contact you to complete a short teleconference with the DVLA, after which you will receive a membership pack in the post.

If you have any questions please contact Shirley O'Reilly , Victoria Johnsen  or Matt Barker.
