Carbon cutting competition winners

To coincide with the launch of Aston's 10:10 carbon reduction campaign earlier this year, a competition was held asking staff and students to put forward their suggestions for saving energy on campus. After much deliberation, we can now announce the two winning ideas….

Staff winner: Jill Forrest – set aside space for green roofs

Student winner: Vlad Mackevic – organise an awards ceremony for staff, to encourage green behaviour.

The two lucky winners each won a voucher for the online shop “Ethical superstore”, where you can buy clothes, food, gadgets and gifts.

We spent a lot of time considering all the suggestions that were put forward and hope to be able to follow up on a good many of them. We thought these two suggestions in particular were very innovative and yet were initiatives that it would be possible for us to implement.

More details on the winning ideas and feedback on all the suggestions.
