Aston BUCS News - 26th October 2016

BUCS

It was inspired performance’s all round for Aston this week. After some disappointing performances last week, it seems every team was determined to improve and make their mark moving into the third week of BUCS fixtures. The highlight of this week’s results, was the womens Volleyball 3-0 win over Loughborough 1st. A fantastic performance by the girls who have been working extremely hard in training, and who are now joint top of Midlands 2A division with a game in hand. The mens team were also in action this week, defeating the University of Worcester 1st team 3-0.  They now go into week 4 of BUCS on a three game winning streak, and will be hoping to continue their winning ways for the rest of the season.

There was one football fixture played this week, as the mens 1 st team faced off against Nottingham Trent 4 th . It was a great first half performance by the team as they finished the first half 3-0 up. The match finished 5-3 as Aston held off a late Nottingham push to win the game, with two goals by fresher Harry Saunders.

The Rugby union 1 st team continue their winning ways as they defeated Warwick 3rds 32-15. They now lead the Midlands 3A division four points above Derby who they defeated previously. Unfortunately the rugby seconds away trip to Loughborough 4 th was called off this week. With Loughborough being a new team working their way through the divisions, the difference in player abilities was due to be too high for the match to go ahead.

Overall it has been a fantastic week of BUCS fixtures for Aston. After a mixed bag of results in the first couple of weeks our teams seemed to have really turned it around. The future is looking bright and it will be interesting to see how the teams get on in the next couple of weeks.
