Aston BUCS News - 15th February 2017

BUCS

We are coming up to the last few weeks of BUCS fixtures for this season, which means teams are more determined than ever to secure vital points in their league, and to secure vital wins in the latter rounds of the cup. With this in mind we had some fantastic results in this week of BUCS, with six out of the 8 teams who played securing key victories.

One of the stand out results this week for Aston is the Rugby firsts 100-0 victory over University College Birmingham firsts. The team worked extremely hard in training after losing a close match 16-14 to their league rivals Derby previously, and will hope this victory is the start of a winning streak moving to the end of the season. The referee stopped counting after 100-0 so we will never really know the true score. All we know is the Rugby firsts are looking extremely strong and will be hard to beat moving forward.

Mens Badminton also secured another stand out victory as they progressed into the final of the Midlands Conference Cup, after a victory on games won. Mens Badminton will now play Loughborough University in the final on the 8th of March 2017. Loughborough are at the top of the league below Aston which means the two teams should be fairly equal in skill and the match should be a good one.

Overall it has been a fantastic week of results for Aston with a 75% win rate for the teams. With only a few weeks left of BUCS, hopefully the teams continue this winning streak!
