The Darren Hale Triathlon 4th May 2018

Event Information

This is the 2nd Darren Hale Triathlon organised in memory of a friend and colleague. It might make you feel exhausted just thinking about it but the triathlons we are offering are only serious and competitive if you want them to be. On the day there is a real buzz with people talking, laughing and joking their way through the triathlon with help and support from each other and the Sport Aston Team.

Location

The Sir Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre, Aston University, Woodcock Street, Birmingham.

All events will take place indoors using the sports centre's gym for the running and bike sections and the swimming pool for the swim part of the triathlon.

In 2017 we held the first ever Darren hale Triathlon in memory of Darren. It was a fantastic day with everyone enjoying the challenge and having fun at the same time.

When we started organising the event last year we were aiming to raise £1500 but thanks to wonderful support from everyone involved we raised a massive £2,297.46.

About Darren

Darren
Darren was the Campus Sports Manager at Sport Aston but was so much more than that to everyone here. You could usually hear Darren before you saw him because of his loud, infectious laugh.

He was always smiling, cracking a joke or...running, cycling and swimming.

Darren was an exceptional athlete who mainly competed in long distance running but recently found a love for triathlons.

Darren will always be missed and this triathlon is one way we can celebrate his life and one of his passions.
