For a skier Alexandra Bocaniciu began her journey rather late taking her first skiing class at the age of 10. However she managed to pick up the skills and technique quickly and by the age of 12 was already competing at club level in her native country Romania. To further enhance her game, Alexandra has been to racing camps in Austria. In her first year at Aston, Alexandra recorded an impressive 11 th place in the BUCS Main Event Giant Slalom in France and aims to improve that standing this time round.

Ashton Jenion's mains sports discipline is Ice Hockey in which he is playing Semi Professionally for the Coventry Blaze in the English National Ice Hockey League (NIKH). Ashton’s rise to prominence came in December when he was selected to represent team GB in the University Olympic Games Winter in Trentino Italy. Ashton and Team GB had a great run of games in the competition and was surely an unforgettable experience for him. At Aston Ashton regularly competes in the snowboarding disciplines, slalom and boarder cross in which he has reached the indoor finals two years in a row.

Ashley Oyekan's career in rugby started very late playing his first game at the age of 17. Since then Ashley has never looked back and in that short period of time (two years) he has managed to build a very respectable portfolio for himself. After Ashley played his first game he was moved into the first team academy and was awarded a scholarship from national 3 club Bridgewater and Albion. From there he went onto being selected for the British Colleges finalist training camp. At present Ashley plays for championship side Moseley academy and is aiming to be signed by the first team for next season.

Mohsan Hussain is a Snowboarder who is studying for a PhD in Engineering. Mohsan has been a Sports Scholar for the past two years and is evidence that the support that is given has benefited him with the balancing of education and sport. Last year Mohsan came 3rd in the BUSC main event, one place better than the year previous. He has also competed in the British Army Championships being, placed 3rd and 1st in the last two years he has been competing.

Sport: Wheelchair Tennis
Course: Product Design and Management
James Shaw has already had many successes as a wheel chair tennis player, already competing both nationally and internationally. In 2012 James reached the finals in both the men’s singles and doubles at the Edinburgh Development Series. In 2013 James played in the German Open finishing as a quarter finalist in the singles quad and finalist in the doubles quad. Later that year, he competed in the Memorial Jens Vanherk Tournament in Belgium, reaching the quarter finals in the men’s singles and doubles as well as the semi-final in the boy’s singles. With a busy 2013 behind him James finished with highest rankings of 17th and a single’s junior and 69th as a singles quad.

Kent Chung arrives as an exchange student from Hong Kong boasting a very impressive resume in his sporting discipline. Since the age of 14 Kent has represented Hong Kong in many international games. He currently holds 4 Hong Kong records, 4 junior records (Under 18) and 4 Age Group records. Kent has competed in many international games namely the Asian Games, East Asian Games, World Swimming Championship and Asian Indoor Games.

Stan Bowley, at the young age has already achieved a respectable ranking at both junior and senior level. The sabre is the modern fencing discipline that Stan specialises in and is 26th in the GB senior National ranking and 9th in the junior rankings. Stan was champion in the Bay open Championship in 2011 and 2012 and then went on to become the Yorkshire champion in 2013. This year Stan’s aim is to improve on his rakings as well as compete in the British U20 Selection Circuit Competitions as well as make the step up into more national senior competitions.

Navraj Degun started his Hockey playing career in 2008, where he played for the Bradford Tigers Hockey Club in the Men’s England Hockey National League Conference North. He played there from 2008 to the summer of 2013. He also represented the England Hockey under 18 Squad for the 2010- 2011 & 2011-2012 seasons. At present, Navraj plays for the Cannock Hockey Club, who compete in the England Hockey Men’s NOW Pensions National Premier League. This year Navraj aims to push for the England under-21 national squad for the European Championships in the summer. His bigger target in the future is to represent team GB in the 2016 Olympic Games.

Umair Mir has played in some very high level cricket games in his native country of Pakistan. He has represented his city (Islamabad) in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for the past 3 season from 2011-2013, making the step up from there junior teams in the years previous. A highlight in Umair’s Career to date is representing Pakistan in the U19 Cricket World Cup in 2008, where he pitted himself against present cricket superstars such as India’s Virat Kohil
