Graduation ceremonies underway for Aston students

Aston University summer graduation ceremonies are underway at Town Hall, Birmingham this week (16 July – 21 July) with more than 3,000 students being formally conferred across 12 ceremonies.

Both undergraduate and postgraduate students receive their degrees in a one-hour ceremony presided over by Vice-Chancellor Alec Cameron. After the ceremony, many of the new graduates congregate in Victoria Square, weather permitting, before heading back to campus.

Professor Alec Cameron, Vice Chancellor of Aston University, said: 

“Graduation day is an important milestone in the life of every one of our students. It is a time to look back on the achievements and experiences gained over the course of their studies, but also an opportunity to realise the wealth of opportunity that now lies before them as Aston graduates. 

“We pride ourselves on helping our graduates to become the best global citizens possible, able to think, reason and lead.  This year, we have more graduates than ever, all leaving ably equipped for their careers ahead, and I shall enjoy congratulating them all.”

14 honorary degrees are also being awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves in a particular field or profession, or who have given meritorious service to the University. This year’s recipients are:
