  • Aston University ranked amongst UK elite universities for business and economics in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings
  • Aston Business School research amongst the most cited in the world

Aston University has been ranked 12th in the UK for business and economics in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Using a rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators, the result highlights how Aston Business School provides a quality of teaching and research that matches or surpasses many elite ‘redbrick’ institutions.

Out of all measured institutions globally, Aston University was ranked 85th.

In particular, the University scored well in the citations metric. This looks at a university’s role in spreading new knowledge and ideas by looking at how many times their work is cited by scholars around the world. Here, Aston was placed 15th out of all measured institutions worldwide.

International Outlook was also a notable strength. This considers a university’s ability to attract students and staff from overseas, as well looking at how many journal publications have at least one international co-author. Aston secured 26th place in this metric.

Professor George Feiger, Executive Dean of Aston Business School, said: “We've been conducting pioneering research into modern business and management issues for over 60 years, making us one of the longest established, research-based business schools in the UK. All of us here are pleased that this has been recognised in the ranking.

“Our triple-accredited business school provides students with an inspirational educational experience coupled with strong business links, offering them rapid career progression in international business. I hope our continued success in the THE World University Rankings will encourage more aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders to choose us.”
