MSc Investment Analysis student James Townsend has received an Educational Trust Award from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).
The CISI is the largest and most widely respected professional body for those who work in the securities and investment industry in the UK and in a growing number of financial centres globally. The CISI Educational Trust supports the development of transferable skills across all levels of education, and the purpose of the award is to support the ambitions of a nominee as they progress into a career within the finance industry.
James was nominated by Aston Business School on the basis of excellence in his work. As an award winner James also received a cheque of £1,000 to support ambitions for a financial services career.
In the selection process for the Educational Trust Award, James underwent an assessment that tested both his academic skills and knowledge of the topical issues in the financial services market, as well as an interview about his future career plans.
This is the third year running that an Aston Business School student has been awarded a CISI Educational Trust Award, after MSc Finance and Investments student Jonas Rebmann received an award in 2015.
Presenting James' award, Colin Chapman, himself a Chartered Member of CISI, said:
James underwent an intensive process in gaining this award and he should be extremely proud of his performance. The Trust looks particularly for students who are "work ready" which Aston students always are due to our integrated personal development programmes, employer engagement and strong placement offer.”
