A Careers in Birmingham networking event held last night at Aston Business School attracted over 100 people.
Over 25 young professionals came to share their experiences and inside knowledge with Aston students. Companies included banks, law firms, charities, property and IT companies. Undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA students were able to network with professionals in all sectors.
The event was held in partnership with BPS BirminghamAspire, a membership organisation which provides a support structure for young people with the aspirations of becoming top professionals in Birmingham.
The welcome speech was delivered by Katie Fulcher, Business Relationship Manager for Graduate Advantage and Deputy Chair of the BPS Birmingham Development Committee. Attendees also heard from Natalie King, Business Development Executive at Marketing Birmingham and a member of the BPS Birmingham Aspire leadership team, who explained why Birmingham is an ideal place to launch an ambitious professional career.
Jack Gibbons, a student entrepreneur and 2nd year BSc Marketing student, said:
"It's not just what you know, it is also very much who you know. Aston Business School knows this and therefore makes a profound effort at getting you in the room with some of the best employers, entrepreneurs and contacts in the country. Establishing connections in the right places has never been so easy.
Aston Business School is committed to providing quality opportunities for students to engage with top employers and, as a BPS Birmingham sponsor, will be hosting similar partnership events throughout the year.
