Ashley Taylor and Antonio Mankulu have developed BISC, a business card app which allows user to create, exchange and manage their electronic business cards in one dedicated place.
The team is currently giving a free lifetime app subscription to every Aston University student, or graduate who signs up this month (April 2015) via an Aston email account.
The app provides users with unlimited virtual card holders, categorisation of their contacts and extra features such as a ‘photo image’ and ‘notes section’ for future reference and use. It is aimed at entrepreneurs, working professionals and students and is available via the Apple App store and Google Play. The app also reduces reliance on actual paper-based business cards and their associated costs.
The duo decided to develop BISC after realising the importance of maintaining strong business links following their year-long work placement opportunities while studying at Aston.
"As a company we really understand the importance of maintaining contact with the people you meet, as you never know who can change your live or accelerate your progress,” said Antonio.
“Therefore having a tool, which makes a person more efficient in networking, is very important. Even as students we realised how important our contacts were for our early working life. It's true that who you know can make a big difference. I have been encouraging the next generation of students to start networking early, start making contacts with directors, recruiters and business owners. These can come in handy after graduation no matter what route students wish to take, whether they are going into full-time employment or setting up a business.”
The team also praised the role of Aston University and the BSEEN programme in helping to develop their entrepreneurial activities and turning their ideas into viable products.
