The Placements Team was commended for its use of innovative ideas to engage students and their exceptional commitment to the student experience.
Judges commented that; “With an impressive scope of schemes and stats present in their nomination form the sheer scale of work surpassed all other finalists in this category.”
Nationally, Aston University is in the top three for the number of students on a placement year (HESA), having arranged almost 1000 12-month placements in 2012/13 and supporting over 900 students currently on placement. This year, the team has advertised over 6,000 opportunities in the UK and overseas, checked over 2000 CVs and application forms and provided over 1000 one-to-one appointments.
Etta Parkes, Head of Placements at Aston University said: “Every day the Team go above and beyond with the support they offer students, so I am incredibly proud to see their hard work recognised with this award. The energy and passion with which the team work ensures that the department is continually improving and encouraging even more students to secure a placement year by year. To be a finalist for the award highlights how far the Placements Team has come following centralisation and restructure two years ago.”
The NUE Awards, held at etc. venues, London, are the only awards of their kind, recognising the outstanding achievements of universities, students and employers in the undergraduate work experience field.
