Aston welcomes new Chief Financial Officer

Aston University has appointed a new Chief Financial Officer (CF), Neil Scott, formerly CFO of University of Hull.  

Neil joined the University last week and brings with him a broad experience in both the Higher Education and private sectors. 

He has previously held executive-level positions at Staffordshire University, Wyvale Garden Centres plc, Marston, Thompson & Evershed plc and the Ford Motor Company. He joins Aston from the University of Hull where he is currently the Chief Finance Officer. 

Neil holds a number of external board appointments. He is a Director and Treasurer of the Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges (EAUC) and a board member of the British Universities Finance Directors’ Group. He also directs a number of spin-out companies, and is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. 

Speaking about his appointment, Neil Scott said: “I am delighted to be joining Aston at such an important time for the University in terms of its growth and development. Aston University is a significant asset to the economic and educational wellbeing of the West Midlands region, the UK and beyond.” 

Neil succeeds former CFO, Mark Hodgson, who has taken up a new role at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
