The course, which is suitable for graduates from any discipline, is designed to strengthen professional standards in taxation and increase development opportunities for UK based graduates wishing to sit the CPA Australia program.
It provides a detailed introduction to key concepts of the UK taxation system, allowing students to prepare and interpret tax documentation for UK business and individuals. It is also suitable for those holding a professional accounting qualification who require an update on UK tax law.
Margaret Woods, Professor of Accounting and Risk Management at Aston Business School said the signing of the MOU with CPA Australia marked a continued commitment towards providing educational opportunities directly relevant to business professionals.
“This specialist course places great emphasis on real world corporate and personal taxation reporting issues and practices, as well as reflection on the growing international movement to prevent tax evasion and avoidance by large multinational organisations and wealthy individuals.
“Aston is the first and only UK university to sign such an agreement, through which we will provide post graduate distance learning courses in UK tax for both CPA student members and the CPD training of ex-pat CPA members,” said Professor Woods.
The module covers a wide range of taxes including corporation, sole trader, partnerships, VAT and capital gains tax.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Professor George Feiger, Executive Dean Aston Business School and Paul Taylor General Manager of Europe CPA Australia.
