Aston University students scoop McCann Birmingham marketing award

A team of Aston University students were presented with a trophy by communications agency, McCann Birmingham, in recognition of their creativity.

The Solihull based communications house presented bright sparks Charlotte Longmore, Jordan Trafford, Ushma Chhipa and Yisheng Guo  with a highly coveted trophy after coming top of the class in a real-life marketing challenge set by McCann, with the support of its client, Pukka Pies.

The triumphant team and their fellow students on Aston Business School’s ‘Strategic Brand Management’ module were required to showcase their creativity and apply their theoretical understanding of the marketing industry to develop a fictional three-year communications plan to support Pukka Pies’ range of chilled pies. 

The activity came to a pinnacle when the students pitched their responses to the brief, which was assessed by Pukka Pies, McCann and module tutors and resulted in the foursome taking home the trophies. 

The award presentation marks the end of the fourth consecutive year McCann Birmingham has sponsored the module, which offers students a programme of learning specifically designed to boost their chances of employability in the marketing and communications sector.
