University nominated for national work placement award

Aston University has been nominated for a national employability award for ‘Best University Placement Services’ in helping students secure work experience. 

The University’s Placements Team was shortlisted for the in the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards 2014, which were launched by Rate My Placement in 2010 and celebrate the outstanding achievements of universities, students and employers in the field of work experience. 

The awards received over 350 nominations which were shortlisted by the RMP Enterprise Team. The Team were commended for the level of support and guidance provided to students and the initiatives used to engage them in the placement programme.   

Etta Parkes, Head of Placements said she was delighted to be shortlisted for the award which she believes demonstrates how far the Placements Team has progressed following restructuring and centralisation in to the Careers Centre.

The Team offer support and guidance to students throughout their placement search, working with companies from the West Midlands, the UK and internationally to source and manage work opportunities. 

The final decisions for the 15 award categories will be made by an independent judging panel. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held at ETC Venues in London on Friday 7 March 2014.
