Dr Parveen Akhtar

Lecturer in Politics & International Relations

Before joining Aston, Parveen was awarded a British Academy Research Fellowship for her work on politics and Islam. 
 
Parveen has published widely on political participation, Islam, migration and social change in journals including; the British Journal of Politics and International Relations, the Political Quarterly and European Political Science. In 2013, she published a book: 'Political Participation Amongst British Pakistani Diasporas in Multicultural Britain'.
Media experience
  • Parveen is a regular contributor to The Conversation website and is an experienced commentator on mainstream print and online media. She also has experience with radio and TV interviews, with several appearances on BBC radio stations.
