Meet and Greet

This year's Meet & Greet service times:

This year we are trialing a new approach to the Meet & Greet service that we offer. We are extending the days to also include Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September, as well as Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th September 2016.

The Meet & Greet service will be staffed by Aston University Students’ Union Aunties who will be wearing branded tops. Once you have booked onto the service we will give you more information as to where you can find them.

We are also extending where we can meet new incoming students. As well as having a team of Aunties at Birmingham International Airport, we will also be at Birmingham New Street Station, if you arrive via the train.

If you arrive at Birmingham International Airport, we will be able to transfer you to your accommodation, provided you register below in advance.

How long can I expect to be at the airport?

The Airport usually recommends that you count two hours between the time that your flight lands and the time when you reach the arrivals area at Birmingham International Airport. Please remember to read the Home Office's important pre-departure information before you travel.

If you arrive outside of the Meet & Greet times:

If you arrive at a time when we cannot meet you (i.e. outside the service times), we will be in touch with you as to how best to travel to the campus, so please still register. Should you arrive outside of the Meet & Greet times, Aston University is easy to travel to by public transport. If you arrive at Birmingham New Street Station a taxi should take approximately 5-10 mins and cost approximately £5-7.

Meet and Greet

Who will meet me?

In September, we have a team of ‘Aunties’, who are current Aston University students, who run the Meet and Greet service. The Aunties will meet you at either Birmingham International Airport or Birmingham New Street Station. If you are being met at the airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation by the Aunties. If you are being met at the train station the Aunties will advise you on the best way to travel to your accommodation. This also gives you a chance to ask any questions you may have.

If you are staying on campus, the Aunties will show you to your accommodation where you will be can collect a key to your room.

If you are not living on campus, the Aunties will drop you at any accommodation within a 5 mile radius of campus.
