The strength of Aston’s BSc in English Language is in its variety of modules – in your First Year, you’ll be learning how a corpus works, looking at the history of English and be introduced to legal language among much else. It’s worth noting that the course is a ‘Bachelor of Science’ which means you will also study the phonetics of English accents and the system of functional grammar – both of which give the students a scientific ‘edge’ over those who opt for a ‘traditional’ English degree. I recommend the fascinating Psychology of Language. Before you go onto Final Year, you have the option of going on placement, which would be a clever move as it enhances your career prospects a great deal.'
