Student Support; School of Languages & Social Sciences

Vision
Within the School of Languages and Social Sciences;
  • We have a dedicated team of student support and examinations & assessment staff who are able to offer advice in person, by phone and by email. We are located next to the LSS Reception (which is Room MB775).

The University;

  • The Library is a useful tool available to assist you in your studies and they have individual guides about library resources specifically for LSS students.
  • The Learning Development Centre are there to help you with all aspects of academic skills, keep on top of your studies and maximise your potential.
  • The University's The Enabling Team provides support for students with physical, sensory or hidden disabilities, mental health concerns, specific learning difficulties or long term health problems.
  • The Hub Advice Zone is an advice service for current students aiming to ensure that your time at Aston is as happy and successful as possible.
  • The University has its own Counselling Service where you can book an appointment to see specially trained staff.
  • International Students Advisers offer advice and support on immigration issues and other legal and practical issues for your stay in the UK. Advice and support is offered through email, telephone and face to face via appointment. Find out more about the International Student Support Unit.
  • Everyone has problems with, or questions about IT. If you are a new student it can be particularly daunting, so the last thing you want to be worrying about is not being able to e-mail home and tell everyone you are OK, or you may be a returning student who has forgotten your password, or lost your uniCARD. The IT Helpdesk, located in the Main Building East room G16, will do what they can to resolve your problems.
