Nathalie Mrgudovic joined Aston in 1995, before finishing her PhD (Doctorat) in Political Science on the French presence and the powers at stake in the South Pacific. She continues to research questions of self-determination, autonomy, and self-government in the region, focusing on:
- The evolution of the political status of the French territories in the region (New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis & Futuna);
- The regional integration process in the South Pacific;
- The evolving facets of French foreign policy in Oceania
She is now exploring and developing the same research questions on the other French Overseas territories (Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana, Réunion Island, Mayotte, St Pierre and Miquelon, St Martin, St Barthélémy).
