Xavier joined Aston University in September 2017 as a Teaching Associate in Politics and International Relations. He holds an MA from the University of Bordeaux (Sciences Po) and a PhD from the University of Sheffield. His research interests include Sovereignty, International Interventions (the Responsibility to Protect, Peacebuilding), Civilisation and Eurocentrism, and Identity/Difference in International Encounters. In the past, Xavier has used post-structuralist theories (Performativity and Post-colonial approaches) and he is now interested in applying Queer Theory to the daily performance of identities in the context of international interventions.
Before joining Aston, Xavier was a post-doctoral fellow at the Centre for Global Cooperation Research (Germany). He also worked as a research assistant at the University of Leeds and as a teaching assistant at the University of Sheffield and the University of Sheffield International College.
