Luke John Davies completed his Bachelors degree in Politics with International Relations at Aston University, with some time spent studying abroad at the University of Seoul in South Korea, before proceeding to complete a Masters degree in the European Union and International Relations also at Aston University in 2010. He worked briefly in Russia and Albania before spending a year on European Voluntary Service at the Centar za Studije Socijalne Demokratije (Centre for Study of Social Democracy) in Belgrade, Serbia. He returned to the UK in 2012 and went on to be heavily involved in the Young Fabians, as the co-founder and first Chair of the Young Fabians International Network and was elected to serve on the Young Fabians National Executive Committee for both 2015/16 and 2016/17. Luke John was also elected as Chair of the Birmingham Fabian Society in February 2017. Luke John returned to Aston University to begin a PhD funded by a scholarship in October 2016.

Luke John's PhD research is focused around the impact of youth wings on the recruitment of Parliamentarians in the Social Democratic party family in Western Europe. He also has an interest in communitarianism and issues of progressive patriotism which forms the focus of his Fabian Society work. He is also a member of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies' Young Academics Network.
